The SW80 is the choice for buyers who want the 8kW output range of The Wall series in a black finish. Rooms from 177 to 431 cubic feet - standard 3 to 6-person home saunas and any room where tile, glass, or concrete cold surfaces push the adjusted cubic foot calculation toward the upper end - are within range. The 8kW output on a 40A circuit holds the room at temperature reliably across the full rated range without the heater running at continuous full load. Illuminated top-mounted controls - usable in low light
The SW80 uses the same illuminated control system as every The Wall model. Switches sit at the top of the heater unit, are illuminated for visibility in a dimly lit sauna, and manage on/off, timer, and temperature. The control module configures to either the left or right side at installation - a physical swap that gives genuine left or right-handed flexibility, not just a rotated dial. Temperature adjustment range on the built-in controls is 121°F to 175°F. No external control unit is needed or compatible.
Left or right-handed installation - optional bench integration
The SW80 installs in either left or right-handed orientation. It can also be integrated directly into the sauna bench structure, placing the stone mass at bench level and removing the heater as a standalone wall fixture. This requires planning during sauna construction. The included Harvia mounting rack is mandatory for all installations - it sets the 9.8-inch minimum floor safety distance that is a required clearance and cannot be met by direct wall mounting without the rack. Installing without the rack voids warranty coverage on fire-related damage and is a safety violation.
Extra-long elements, air circulation design, and element support structure
The Wall's engineering is consistent across all output levels and both finishes. Extra-long heating elements provide more contact surface with the stones and produce smoother heat transfer into the room. A dedicated element support structure prevents elements from twisting during the thermal cycling of repeated sauna sessions - one of the primary causes of shortened element life in standard heaters. The internal geometry directs cool air in from below the unit, through the stone mass, and releases it from the top and sides, producing more even temperature distribution from floor to bench level than enclosed designs. All internal components sit at the base of the heater in the coolest zone of the room.

Both the SW80 and SWS80 are 8kW, cover rooms from 177 to 431 cubic feet, run on a 40A breaker with 8 AWG wire, weigh 36.5 lbs, and share identical dimensions, controls, safety distances, and installation options. The SW80 black steel finish suits dark cedar, thermally modified wood, charcoal tile, black-framed glass, and any interior where the heater should blend into the background. The SWS80 polished stainless finish suits lighter natural wood tones and interiors where a reflective element contributes to the room's warmth and brightness. If the sauna interior is not yet decided, confirm the primary wood tone and hardware finish before choosing between the two.
A standard 2-pole 40A breaker and 8 AWG wire are required. Do not connect to a GFI or GFCI breaker - nuisance tripping will void warranty on internal components. Only Harvia AC3000 stones (5-10 cm) should be used. The mounting rack must always be used - it sets the mandatory 9.8" floor clearance. Do not mount the heater directly to the wall without it.

2-year consumer warranty / 1-year commercial warranty
The Harvia The Wall SW80 is covered by a 2-year limited warranty for consumer (residential) use and a 1-year limited warranty for commercial use from the date of purchase. The warranty covers defects in manufacturing and materials including heating elements, controls, and all internal components. Heating elements are serviceable and replacements are available. The warranty is void if: the heater is connected to a GFI/GFCI breaker (standard 2-pole breaker required), incorrect or insufficient stones are used (must be Harvia AC3000, 5-10 cm), essential oils are poured directly on stones or elements, or the heater is improperly installed without the required mounting rack.
