The Harvia Spirit SP90E is the highest-output model in the Spirit lineup, a 9kW black open-cage wall-mounted sauna heater covering rooms from 177 to 494 cubic feet. It brings the full Spirit design, the elegantly curved black steel frame, the fully visible stone cage, the dual safety interlocks, the ventilation ducts, and the 110-lb stone capacity, to the largest room range the Spirit series serves. At 9kW on a 50A circuit, the SP90E heats rooms that the SP80E (8kW, 40A) cannot adequately serve, and does so in the same compact 29.5"H × 15.0"W × 13.1"D footprint shared by every Spirit model in the range.
9kW, the largest Spirit heater, for rooms up to 494 cubic feet
The SP90E extends the Spirit series to its maximum room coverage: 177 to 494 cubic feet. This is the range that encompasses large 5 to 6-person home saunas and any room where significant cold surfaces, glass panels, tile floors, concrete walls, drive the adjusted cubic footage substantially above the nominal room volume. At 9kW, the SP90E draws 37.5A and requires a 50A breaker and 8 AWG wire, one step heavier than the SP80E's 40A requirement. This electrical difference is the only reason to choose between the SP80E and SP90E: if the room calculation confirms coverage above 431 cubic feet (the SP80E's ceiling), the SP90E is the correct and only Spirit model that serves it.
Presence detection and dual safety sensors, safe remote activation at 9kW
The SP90E carries the integrated safety systems that define every Spirit model. The presence detection system prevents the heater from being activated, manually or remotely via the app, if any item is placed on top of the heater. The dual-sensor system monitors the heater surface temperature with one sensor and the sauna room air temperature with a second, independent sensor; either threshold triggers automatic shutoff. On a 9kW heater connected to a 50A circuit and activated remotely, these systems provide the safety assurance that makes remote preheat a practical and responsible operation rather than a risk. Both are permanently active and cannot be bypassed.
Open stone cage, 110 lbs of R-991 stones visible from all sides
The SP90E uses the same open curved black steel cage as the SP60E and SP80E. The 110-lb stone capacity fills the cage visibly from every angle in the sauna room. Heat radiates simultaneously from all faces of the exposed stone mass rather than directionally from a single front face, producing more even radiant heat distribution across the room. The ventilation ducts beneath the stone cage circulate air through the heater for even temperature distribution and cool the rear of the heater, allowing direct wood wall mounting despite the fully open stone design on all other sides.

The Spirit series is designed and engineered in Finland, where Harvia has been making sauna heaters since 1950. The SP90E carries ETL certification for use in North America and is compatible with Harvia Xenio and Fenix WiFi control units, both of which integrate with the MyHarvia mobile app on iOS and Android, plus Google Home and Amazon Alexa. The control unit and sauna stones are sold separately, so you can pair the heater with the control package and stone type that best fits your installation.

The SP90E is the top of the Spirit lineup: the same elegantly curved open cage, the same presence-detection safety that makes remote preheat reliable, the same dual sensors, the same ventilation ducts, and the same 110-lb stone capacity as the SP60E and SP80E, at 9kW for rooms up to 494 cubic feet. The step from SP80E to SP90E is dictated entirely by room size. If the adjusted room volume exceeds 431 cu ft, the SP90E is the correct choice.

SP60E, SP80E, or SP90E?
Choosing the right Spirit heater by room size
All three Spirit heaters share the same open cage design and safety features. The difference is output, room coverage, and electrical requirement. SP60E (6kW): 177-294 cu ft, 30A breaker, 10 AWG. SP80E (8kW): 177-431 cu ft, 40A breaker, 8 AWG. SP90E (9kW): 177-494 cu ft, 50A breaker, 8 AWG. Calculate the adjusted cubic footage of the room. If the result is under 294 cu ft, the SP60E is correct. Between 294 and 431 cu ft, the SP80E. Above 431 cu ft, the SP90E is the only Spirit model that serves it.
A standard 2-pole 50A breaker and 8 AWG wire are required for the SP90E. Do not use a GFI or GFCI breaker. The control unit installs in a dry area outside the sauna room; the heater mounts on the wall inside. Only Harvia R-991 stones (5-10 cm) should be used.

Warranty
2-year consumer warranty / 1-year commercial warranty
The Harvia Spirit SP90E is covered by a 2-year limited warranty for consumer (residential) use and a 1-year limited warranty for commercial use from the date of purchase. The warranty covers the heater against defects in manufacturing and materials. Heating elements are serviceable Virta-series elements, available as authorized replacement parts. The warranty is void if: the heater is connected to a GFI/GFCI breaker, incorrect stones are used (must be Harvia R-991, 5 to 10 cm), water is poured directly onto heating elements, or the heater is improperly installed.
