The presence detection system on the top of the heater prevents activation - manual or remote - if any item is placed on it. Spirit SP60E vs SP80E - room size is the only deciding factor
Both Spirit packages include an open stone cage heater, a WiFi control, and 4 boxes of R-991 stones. Both have the same physical dimensions, the same 110-lb stone capacity, and the same safety features. The SP60E (6kW) covers 177-294 cu ft and comes with a CX30 or FX30 WiFi control on a 30A breaker with 10 AWG wire. The SP80E (8kW) covers 177-431 cu ft and comes with a CX45 or FX45 WiFi control on a 40A breaker with 8 AWG wire. Calculate the adjusted cubic footage of the sauna room (accounting for glass, tile, concrete, and other cold surfaces). If the result is under 294 cu ft, the SP60E is correct. If it exceeds 294 cu ft, the SP80E is required. Both are available on this site.
A standard 2-pole 40A breaker and 8 AWG wire are required for the SP80E. Do not connect to a GFI or GFCI breaker. The interconnecting cord from the control unit to the heater must be a minimum 8 AWG - confirm with the electrician before installation. Only Harvia R-991 stones (5-10 cm) should be used. The control unit installs in a dry area outside the sauna room; the heater mounts on the wall inside the sauna.

The Harvia Spirit SP80E is covered by a 2-year limited warranty for consumer (residential) use and a 1-year limited warranty for commercial use from the date of purchase. The warranty covers the heater and included components - heating elements, control unit, and stones - against defects in manufacturing and materials. Heating elements are serviceable Virta-series elements, available as authorised replacement parts. The warranty is void if: the heater is connected to a GFI/GFCI breaker, incorrect stones are used (must be Harvia R-991, 5-10 cm), water is poured directly onto heating elements, or the heater is improperly installed.
