The Harvia Spirit SP60E Package is the most complete ready-to-install sauna heater package in the Harvia lineup. It includes the Spirit SP60E 6kW heater, a Xenio WiFi or Fenix WiFi control unit (buyer chooses at checkout), and four boxes of Harvia R-991 sauna stones - everything needed for a fully operational sauna in a single purchase. The Spirit is a fundamentally different heater from the KIP, The Wall, or the Virta. Where those heaters have enclosed housings, the Spirit is an open stone cage with an elegantly curved black steel frame - the stones are fully visible on all sides, exposed as the dominant visual element of the heater, and the round Harvia R-991 stones give the heater its finished organic appearance. It is the design-led choice in the Harvia range: a heater that is meant to be looked at, not hidden.
Open stone cage design - stones as the visual element
The Spirit's black curved steel frame forms a cage structure rather than an enclosure. The stones load into the open cage and are visible from every angle in the sauna room - the round Harvia R-991 stones, 5-10 cm in diameter, fill the cage to the top and give the heater a natural, organic quality that enclosed heaters cannot replicate. Heat radiates outward from all sides of the stone mass simultaneously rather than directionally from a front face, which produces a more even distribution of radiant heat across the sauna room. Water poured onto the exposed stones for loyly steam contacts the full heated stone surface rather than a restricted top opening, producing soft, immediate steam. The 110-lb stone load - larger than a KIP heater despite the Spirit's smaller dimensions - is the primary reason the Spirit produces the quality of steam that makes it the premium choice in the Harvia built-in-control range.
Integrated safety interlocks - safe for remote preheat
The Spirit SP60E is equipped with two safety systems that make remote activation via the WiFi control genuinely safe rather than a theoretical option. The first is a presence detection system: if any item is placed on top of the heater - a towel, a bucket, sauna accessories - the heater cannot be switched on, whether manually or remotely. This eliminates the primary fire risk associated with remote preheat. The second is a dual-sensor monitoring system: one sensor monitors the temperature of the heater itself and one monitors the temperature of the sauna room separately. If either reaches its safety threshold, the heater shuts off automatically. Both systems are active at all times and cannot be bypassed. Together they make the Spirit the appropriate heater for remote preheat operation through the Xenio WiFi or Fenix WiFi control included in this package.
Integrated ventilation ducts - even temperature, cool back wall
Beneath the stone cage, the Spirit incorporates a ventilation duct system that serves two purposes. First, it draws cool air through the base of the heater and circulates it through the stone mass, producing more even temperature distribution through the sauna room - reducing the heat stratification that concentrates hot air near the ceiling. Second, the ventilation ducts actively cool the rear face of the heater, which means the Spirit can be mounted directly on a wooden sauna wall without a protective backing panel, despite having exposed stones and heating elements visible on all other sides. The rear cooling is the specific engineering feature that makes wall mounting safe for an open-cage heater of this design.
WiFi control included - Xenio or Fenix, buyer chooses
This package includes a Harvia Xenio CX30 WiFi control or Harvia Fenix FX30 WiFi control - selected at checkout. Both are touch panel wall controls with built-in WiFi, full remote control via the MyHarvia app on iOS and Android, and compatibility with Google Home and Amazon Alexa. The Xenio and Fenix cover the same core functions: temperature setting (up to 194°F), timer and scheduling, lighting and fan control, and remote preheat. The visual and interface differences between the Xenio and Fenix are primarily aesthetic. Either is fully compatible with the Spirit SP60E. The control is sold as part of this package; no additional control purchase is needed for complete installation.

Why the Spirit SP60E Package stands out
Open cage - stones fully visible on all sides
The Spirit's curved steel frame is an open cage - the stones fill it completely and are visible from every angle in the sauna room. Round R-991 stones give the heater its finished organic appearance. Heat and steam radiate from the full exposed stone surface rather than from a single front face, producing softer, more evenly distributed heat throughout the room.
Presence detection - safe remote preheat
If any item is placed on top of the heater, the integrated detection system prevents the heater from activating - manually or remotely. This is the safety feature that makes remote preheat through the included WiFi control genuinely safe rather than a risk. No other Harvia built-in-control heater in this range has this function.
Dual independent safety sensors
One sensor monitors the heater surface temperature. A second, independent sensor monitors the sauna room air temperature separately. Either can trigger an automatic shutoff if its threshold is reached. The two-sensor system provides redundant overtemperature protection - if one sensor fails, the other continues monitoring.
Ventilation ducts cool rear wall
An integrated ventilation duct system beneath the stone cage draws cool air through the base of the heater and circulates it. This produces more even temperature distribution throughout the room and actively cools the rear of the heater - allowing direct wood wall mounting despite the open stone design on all other sides.
WiFi control included - MyHarvia app ready
Xenio CX30 WiFi or Fenix FX30 WiFi is included in this package. Both give full remote control via MyHarvia app on iOS and Android, Google Home and Alexa integration, temperature setting up to 194°F, timer scheduling, and lighting and fan control. No separate control purchase is needed.
110 lbs stone capacity in a compact heater
The Spirit carries 110 lbs of stones (4 boxes R-991 included) in a heater that is only 29.5" tall and 15" wide. This is more stone mass than the KIP60B or KIP80B heaters in a smaller physical footprint. Large stone load produces the soft, sustained steam and slow, even heat release associated with traditional high-quality sauna heating.
About Harvia
Made in Finland - 75 years
The Spirit. Harvia's most design-integrated heater, with the safety features that make remote preheat practical.
Harvia has been making sauna heaters in Finland since 1950. The Spirit is the company's premium design heater - an open stone cage that shows its stones rather than hiding them, with the curved steel profile and round stones that have made it the most recognisable Harvia heater internationally. The integrated safety features - presence detection and dual independent sensors - are specific engineering decisions made to enable genuine remote preheat use. The Spirit is the heater for buyers who want Finnish design quality, the largest stone load in the 6kW class, and full WiFi remote control as a standard part of the package.

Spirit vs KIP vs The Wall
Choosing within the Harvia range - what makes the Spirit the right choice
All three Harvia package series are 240V/1-phase, wall-mounted, and ETL certified. The KIP series (45B, 60B, 80B) has built-in dial controls, no WiFi, no safety interlocks, and an enclosed housing - the straightforward choice when simplicity and lower cost are the priority. The Wall series (SW60, SWS60, SW80, SWS80) has built-in illuminated switches, a slim vertical profile, bench integration option, and no WiFi - the design choice when the heater's form is as important as its function. The Spirit SP60E package has an external WiFi control (included), an open stone cage, dual safety interlocks enabling genuine remote preheat, and the largest stone capacity of the three at 110 lbs. It is the premium choice when remote control, maximum stone mass, and the visual quality of an exposed-stone heater are all priorities together.
A standard 2-pole 30A breaker is required. Do not connect to a GFI or GFCI breaker. The interconnecting cord from the control unit to the heater must be a minimum 8 AWG. Only Harvia R-991 stones (5-10 cm) should be used. Do not pour water directly on the heating elements - always use a wooden bucket and ladle over the stones. The control unit must be installed in a dry area outside the sauna room; the heater mounts on the wall inside the sauna.
