The Saunum Air L 13 is a 13kW floor-standing electric sauna heater for rooms from 424 to 565 cubic feet, finished in black steel. It is the 13kW output level in the Saunum Air L series - the large-room version of the Air L family - and shares the same patented Climate Equalizer air mixing system, 180-lb stone capacity, and Himalayan salt reservoir as the Air L 10 and Air L 15 models. This listing is the heater only. The required control unit and 180 lbs of sauna stones (6 boxes) are sold separately.
The Climate Equalizer - Saunum's defining technology
In a conventional sauna room without air mixing, heat stratifies: the air near the ceiling can be 20-30°F hotter than the air near the floor. Bathers sitting on upper benches experience intense, oxygen-depleted heat while their feet remain in cooler, more oxygen-rich air near the floor. The Climate Equalizer is Saunum's patented solution: a fan-driven air mixing system built into the heater that draws cooler, oxygen-rich air from the floor level, blends it with the hot, oxygen-depleted air near the ceiling, and distributes the blended air evenly throughout the room. The result is a more consistent temperature from floor to ceiling - typically within 5-8°F across the full height of the room rather than 20-30°F. Bathers experience more even heat from head to toe, better breathability at all bench levels, and a longer, more comfortable session than a conventional heater of equivalent output can produce in the same room.
180 lbs of stone capacity - massive thermal mass for large rooms
The Air L 13's 180-lb stone capacity is matched to the 424-565 cu ft room range it serves. More stone mass means more stored thermal energy, slower and softer steam release when water is ladled, and more sustained temperature throughout the session even with back-to-back use. For a large sauna room at the 565 cu ft end of the Air L 13's range, 180 lbs of stones provides the thermal reserve needed to heat the room effectively and maintain quality steam through extended sessions. Himalayan salt reservoir and black steel finish
Genuine Himalayan salt spheres are positioned within the Climate Equalizer's air stream inside the heater body. As the air mixing system circulates air through the salt, negative ions are dispersed throughout the sauna room, delivering the purported air-quality and respiratory benefits of salt air more effectively than passive salt placement. The black steel finish of the Air L 13 suits contemporary and dark-interior sauna designs where the stainless option would read too light. The Air L series is also available in stainless steel for installations where the lighter, traditional sauna look is preferred. The 13kW is the correct choice for rooms from 424 to 565 cubic feet - mid-size dedicated sauna rooms, two-bench cabins, and rooms with some cold surfaces that push the adjusted cubic footage above the 10kW model's range. For rooms between 424 and 530 cu ft, the 13kW and 15kW overlap; in the overlap zone, rooms with standard insulation are well-served by the 13kW.
180 lbs of stone mass
At 180 lbs, the Air L 13's stone capacity is substantial for its output class. More stone mass relative to output means more thermal reserve, slower heat loss when the sauna door is opened, softer and longer-lasting steam when water is ladled, and better temperature recovery between back-to-back uses. For large sauna rooms with multiple bathers, the 180-lb stone load provides the sustained thermal mass that smaller-capacity heaters cannot match.

Genuine Himalayan salt spheres are positioned directly within the Climate Equalizer air stream inside the heater body. Every cubic foot of air the system circulates passes through the salt, dispersing negative ions more effectively than passive salt placement on shelves or walls. The air mixing system that creates the even sauna temperature also delivers the salt ionization benefit throughout the full room volume on every circulation cycle.
Black steel - the contemporary finish
The black steel finish of the Air L 13 suits sauna interiors with dark wood species, slate, carbon fiber, or matte black hardware where a stainless steel heater would create visual contrast. For contemporary sauna designs where the heater is intended to recede into the aesthetic rather than stand out, the black finish is the appropriate choice. All performance specifications are identical to the stainless version.
60A / 6 AWG - plan before ordering
The Air L 13 requires a 60A two-pole breaker and 6 AWG wire. Confirm that the electrical panel has an available 60A slot and engage a licensed electrician before ordering. The Air L 10 requires 45A / 6 AWG; the Air L 15 requires 70A / 4 AWG. For rooms where the Air L 13 and 15 both cover the size, the 13kW's 60A requirement vs the 15kW's 70A may influence the output selection based on panel availability.

Warranty
5-year warranty
The Saunum Air L 13 is covered by Saunum's 5-year warranty from the date of purchase. The warranty covers defects in manufacturing and materials under normal use conditions. The warranty does not cover damage caused by improper installation, use without the required stone load, incorrect stone specification, or failure to follow Saunum's installation and operating guidelines. A licensed electrician is required for all electrical connections. Do not connect to a GFI/GFCI breaker. Proof of purchase from an authorized Saunum dealer is required for warranty claims.
