Most six-person barrel saunas are built the way airlines build economy class technically, the number of seats is there, but nobody is comfortable. The SaunaLife Model E8 takes a different approach. Its 87-inch length and full 81-inch diameter give six bathers over 78 inches of interior length and a true 6'5" standing height, with 17.8-inch-deep contoured benches that run the full length of the barrel on both sides. Six people. Enough room to actually relax.
The Ergo Series at its most generous
The E8 inherits every comfort feature the Ergo Series is built around just scaled up to its fullest expression. The 81-inch diameter means the barrel arc is gentle enough to allow properly contoured, form-fitting benches instead of flat planks fighting against the curve. The knotless Thermo-Aspen seating runs 1.1 inches thick and 3.5 inches wide, almost 50% thicker than what most competing barrels use, and a full arched backrest provides true lumbar support regardless of height or body type. Six people go in, six people come out genuinely rested.
Nordic Spruce that outlasts everything else
Every stave in the E8 is full-length, 1.65 inches thick, and cut from thermally treated Nordic Spruce sourced from sustainably managed Northern European forests. The thermal treatment pressurized heat and steam, no chemicals densifies the wood cell structure, eliminates resins, and makes it naturally resistant to moisture, insects, and decay. The result is a wood that outlasts cedar two to one in real outdoor conditions and needs no staining, sealing, or repainting over its lifetime. Heavy-duty stainless steel barrel bands, 1-7/8 inches wide and 1/8 inch thick, compress the structure with enough force to keep it tight through decades of heating and cooling cycles.
A full-scale sauna that still goes up in a day
Despite its size, the E8 is engineered for two-person DIY assembly in a single day. Every component is numbered and pre-cut. The kit includes everything needed: staves, bands, benches, backrest, glass door, shingle roof, drip edges, dual floor drains, ventilation system, Wi-Fi LED lighting, hardware, and a paraffin oil bottle for the interior finish. No contractor, no foundation pour, no special skills. The 8–9kW electric heater is sold separately a 240V hardwired connection is the only utility run required.
