The HUUM Rail D (part number H3001062) is a safety railing for the HUUM DROP electric sauna heater. A guard around the front of a hot heater
A sauna heater runs at a high temperature, and the heater body and stones are hot. The Rail D puts a wooden arch around the front of the DROP so that bathers do not brush against it by accident. The light wood matches the look of a sauna interior, and the stainless steel supports hold the rail to the heater and the wall. It is a contact guard only. It does not replace the clearances to combustible materials that the heater's own manual requires.
Check the fit before you order
The Rail D is made for the HUUM DROP electric heater. HUUM's other heaters each have their own rail: Rail C for the CLIFF, Rail S for the STEEL, and Rail H or Rail HM for the HIVE and HIVE Mini. The rails are not interchangeable, so match the rail to your heater model before ordering. HUUM's manual is written for the DROP generation sold in the 4.5, 6, 7.5 and 9 kW sizes, so confirm your heater size with us if you are unsure.
Installing and caring for the rail
According to HUUM's installation manual: connect the wooden arches to the support with the 4 x 13 mm screws to form a complete railing. Place the railing on the DROP's heater grates in the third gap from the top, and fasten the support with a bolt and nut. Level the railing, mark where it touches the wall, then remove it and mark and drill the screw openings (the manual specifies 2 mm holes) for the wall supports. Fix each support to the wall with two screws, put the railing back on the DROP, and fix the outside support plates with the remaining screws. The longer wall screws are general-purpose, so ask a specialist whether they suit your wall. The manual also says to treat all wooden parts with a heat-resistant, non-toxic wood preservative, and to reapply it at least once a year, to prevent warping, cracking, and decay. The preservative is not included. Installation of the heater itself must follow its own manual and local code.
