The Harvia Virta HL60E is a 6kW floor-standing electric sauna heater built for the home sauna user who baths frequently, baths long, and does not want to compromise on steam quality or service life. The Virta is designed around two ideas that distinguish it from simpler heaters: stone space that is separated from the heating elements, which means the elements run cooler and last longer; and a front maintenance hatch that provides access to all connections and the entire element module without moving a single stone. For regular sauna users - daily bathers, households where the sauna runs multiple times a week - these two design decisions compound over years of use into a heater that requires significantly less maintenance and fewer element replacements than heaters where the elements sit in direct contact with the stones.
Stone space separated from heating elements - longer element life, softer steam
In many electric sauna heaters the heating elements sit directly within the stone mass, which means stones press against the elements during every heating cycle and water poured for loyly steam passes directly over the element surfaces. The Virta uses a different approach: the stone space is separate from the heating element module and extends downwards along the inner sides of the heater, surrounding the element assembly rather than pressing directly against it. This separation does two things. First, it protects the elements from the thermal shock and mineral deposits that occur when water hits a hot element surface directly - extending element life considerably for users who generate frequent steam. Second, it means heat from the elements is distributed through the surrounding stone mass by convection rather than conduction, producing a more even stone temperature throughout the heater and the softer, more consistent steam that large, evenly heated stone mass creates.
Front maintenance hatch - service without touching the stones
All electrical connections on the Virta HL60E are made through a maintenance hatch on the front face of the heater. The hatch provides ample clearance around the connections and - critically - the entire heating element module can be pulled out through the front of the heater without disturbing the stones. If a heating element needs replacing, the procedure is: open the front hatch, pull out the element module, fit the new element, replace. The stones do not move. This is a meaningful practical difference for any sauna where the heater is installed against a wall or in a corner where rear access is impossible. A licensed electrician is still required for element replacement, but the accessibility of the Virta's design keeps that service call as simple as it can be.
Sidewall or corner installation - placement flexibility
The Virta HL60E can be installed against a sidewall or in a corner of the sauna room. The safety distance from combustible materials is only 2 inches on all sides and the rear, making corner placement practical even in smaller sauna rooms. The minimum ceiling clearance is 3.5 feet above the heater. The minimum room height is 6.56 feet. The heater is rated IPX4, meaning it is splashwater resistant from any direction and approved for wet area use - the heater can be placed in the direct spray zone of a ladle of water without concern. Control is by an external Xenio or Fenix control unit (sold separately), which connects through the front maintenance hatch and can be installed anywhere in or outside the sauna room.

Why the Virta HL60E stands out
Stone space separated from elements
The stone compartment is separate from the heating element module and extends down the inner sides of the heater. Elements run cooler, last longer, and are protected from direct water contact during loyly steam. Heat distributes through the stone mass by convection, producing more consistent temperature throughout.
Front maintenance hatch
All electrical connections are accessed through a front hatch with ample clearance. The entire heating element module pulls out from the front without touching the stones. Element replacement is as straightforward as it can be - no dismantling, no stone removal, no rear access required.
IPX4 wet area rating
Rated for splashwater from any direction. The Virta is approved for wet area installation and can handle the loyly steam, condensation, and water splash of regular active sauna use. This rating is required for a heater that will receive water poured over the stones during every session.
2" safety distance - sidewall and corner compatible
Only 2 inches of clearance required from combustible materials on all sides and the rear. This compact safety envelope makes the Virta compatible with corner installations in smaller sauna rooms where competing heaters with larger required clearances cannot be placed.
Xenio and Fenix control compatible
Works with Harvia Xenio CX30 and CX45 controls and the newer Harvia Fenix FX30 and FX45 controls. All are touch panel units that can be wall-mounted inside the sauna, in the dressing room, or elsewhere. WiFi-enabled Xenio and Fenix controls allow remote preheat via the MyHarvia app.

Warranty
2-year residential warranty
The Harvia Virta HL60E is covered by Harvia's 2-year warranty from the date of purchase for residential use. The warranty covers the heater and all included parts including heating elements, controls, and contactors against defects in manufacturing and materials. Heating elements are covered on first use only and are thereafter considered consumable parts. The warranty is void if: the heater is used with insufficient stones (less than the required minimum), incorrect stone size or type, stones other than Harvia AC3020, essential oils poured directly onto the stones or elements, the heater is connected to a GFI/GFCI breaker rather than a standard 2-pole breaker, or if the heater has been damaged by improper installation or misuse. Proof of purchase from an authorized dealer is required for warranty claims. We are an authorized Harvia dealer.
