Harvia Virta HL110E Virta Series 10.5kW Sauna Heater
The Harvia Virta HL110E is a 10.5kW floor-mounted electric sauna heater for rooms from 177 to 635 cubic feet, built for medium to large home saunas and suited to frequent, long sauna sessions. The HL110E is the largest-footprint model in the standard Virta Series: at 16"W x 16"D x 33"H it has a square profile that holds 154 lbs of AC3020 stones (4 boxes, 5-10 cm, sold separately) - more stone capacity than the narrower HL90E. The stainless steel body houses elements that sit separated from the stone bed, protecting element surfaces from direct stone contact and extending their service life. All connections and both the element module and the stone cage are accessible from the front maintenance hatch without moving the heater or removing any stones. A separate Xenio controller is required and sold separately. An optional wood safety rail is also available. 240V/1PH, 60Hz, 43.75A nominal. ETL certified. UL listed. Made in Finland by Harvia.
Virta HL110E - the largest stone capacity in the standard Virta Series
The HL110E is the top configuration of the standard Virta lineup before stepping up to the Virta Pro platform. At 10.5kW for rooms from 177 to 635 cu ft, it covers the full range of medium to large home saunas. The square 16"x16" footprint is wider and deeper than the HL90E's 16"x13" body, and the additional volume is used to hold more stone mass: 154 lbs versus 110 lbs in the HL90E. This larger stone load produces a more substantial steam quality and holds heat for longer during extended sessions. Harvia's own description of the full Virta platform applies directly to the HL110E: strong structure and exceptional ease of maintenance make it excellently suitable for those who use the sauna often and like to enjoy the steam for long periods of time.
Elements separated from stones - longer lifespan, pull-out replacement
The Virta HL110E positions its heating elements separately from the stone bed throughout the stone cavity. Stones are loaded around the elements but do not rest directly on the element surfaces. This separation prevents the contact abrasion and concentrated thermal cycling at element surfaces that accelerates wear in designs where stones are packed directly against elements - the result is a measurably longer element service life. When an element does need replacing, it can be pulled out as a complete module through the front maintenance hatch without removing a single stone. Harvia describes this directly: it is a quick and easy task, as you can just pull out the entire heating element module. The HL110E's larger stone load makes this no-stone-removal maintenance capability even more practically important than on smaller models.
Front hatch - all connections accessible, 2" clearances all sides
Every connection and serviceable component on the Virta HL110E is reached through the front maintenance hatch. There is adequate clearance around all connections inside the hatch for comfortable working access during installation and any future service. The heater requires only 2" (51mm) from combustible materials on all four sides - the same tight clearances as the smaller HL90E, despite the larger 16"x16" footprint. Ceiling clearance is 3.5 ft above the top of the heater. Minimum room ceiling height is 6.56 ft. These compact safety clearances combined with the square footprint allow the HL110E to be placed in a sauna corner or against a sidewall with minimal space impact.

Why the Harvia Virta HL110E stands out
154 lbs of stones - the largest stone load in the standard Virta Series
At 154 lbs (4 boxes AC3020), the HL110E carries more stone mass than any other standard Virta configuration. The additional stone capacity - 40% more than the HL90E's 110 lbs - translates directly to longer sustained heat after the elements cycle off, denser steam per ladle poured, and a more consistent temperature through the session. For a bather who enjoys extended sessions with multiple rounds of steam, the larger stone mass means the heat quality holds through the full session without the stones cooling prematurely. The square 16"x16" footprint exists specifically to accommodate this larger stone volume in the same 33" height profile shared across the Virta range.
Elements separated from stones - longer life, pull-out replacement
The HL110E positions its elements separately from the stone bed. Stones are packed around the elements but do not rest directly on element surfaces, eliminating the contact wear and localised thermal cycling that shortens element life in designs where stones press against elements. When replacement is needed, the complete element module pulls out through the front maintenance hatch as a single unit - no stones removed, no heater repositioned, no tools reaching around the body. Harvia describes this capability as a quick and easy task. For a 154-lb stone load, pull-out replacement without stone removal is a significant practical advantage over heaters requiring full stone disassembly for element access.
10.5kW for 177-635 cu ft - single heater for the full range
The HL110E's 10.5kW output and 177-635 cu ft room range mean it covers every standard home sauna configuration in a single model. From a compact 2-person sauna at the lower end to a large family sauna room at the upper end, the HL110E has the output and stone capacity to perform across the full range without the tradeoffs of an underpowered heater in the larger rooms or an oversized heater in the smaller ones. For a home sauna builder selecting a single heater that will be adequate for the room as currently configured and remain appropriate if the room is reconfigured or the installation moves, the HL110E's range provides flexibility that smaller output configurations cannot.
Front hatch - all connections in one place, 2" clearances on all sides
Every connection on the Virta HL110E is reached through a single maintenance hatch on the front face of the heater. There is adequate working room around all connections inside the hatch. This means the heater can be positioned with 2" clearances on all sides - back, left, right, and front - and every installation and service task is still fully accessible from the front. For a floor-standing heater installed against a sauna wall, front-only access eliminates the need to pull the heater away from the wall for any wiring or element service. The 2" clearances on all sides are the same specification as the smaller HL90E, despite the HL110E's larger 16"x16" footprint.
Xenio controller - Wi-Fi control with MyHarvia app
The HL110E is operated by a separate Harvia Xenio controller (sold separately), which provides temperature control, session scheduling, delay timer, and optional Wi-Fi connectivity for remote control via the MyHarvia app. Temperature and session duration are set from the Xenio wall panel. Wi-Fi-enabled Xenio models allow preheating to be started remotely from a phone - set the sauna to reach temperature before arriving without manual intervention. The auto shut-off safety feature is built into the Xenio control system. An optional wood safety rail is available separately for installations where additional physical guarding around the stone cage is required.
Virta Series platform - HL110E in the full Virta lineup
The HL11U1UL is the largest standard Virta configuration before stepping up to the Virta Pro platform. The Virta Series covers the home sauna range from 6.0kW (HL60E, 106-318 cu ft) through 9.0kW (HL90E, 177-494 cu ft) to 10.5kW (HL110E, 177-635 cu ft). All three share the same front hatch, separated element, and pull-out module design. Each is also available in a Combi configuration with a built-in steamer for automated steam alongside traditional water-pouring. For commercial and professional applications above 635 cu ft, the Virta Pro Series (HL160E at 16.0kW, HL200E at 20.0kW) provides two-group element architecture and professional-grade classification.
