ES front tank - 20 litres of hot water ready when the sauna is ready
The ES configuration positions the 20-litre water tank at the front of the stove body, with the tap pointing downward for convenient, safe dispensing. Harvia's description of the Linear GreenFlame water tank variants is direct: the heater can be used to heat up bathwater at the same time as the sauna, and the tap is conveniently positioned towards the bottom of the heater so that hot water can be run into any container safely. For a cottage sauna, an outdoor sauna, or any installation where hot water for washing or rinsing after the session is needed and separate plumbing is not available, the ES front tank eliminates the need for any additional water heating equipment. Harvia offers the Linear 22 GreenFlame water tank models in three positions: ES (front), LS (left side, 30 litres), and RS (right side, 30 litres). The ES front tank is 20 litres - slightly smaller than the side tank variants - but its front position means it does not extend the stove's width to either side, only its depth. The ES body is 25.98" deep (660mm) vs 20.08" (510mm) for the standard tankless GreenFlame. For rooms where the stove sits against a back wall with clearances on both sides being important for bench positioning, the front-extending ES may be a better fit than a side-extending LS or RS. The ES tap faces forward and points downward, so a bucket or container placed in front of the stove receives the hot water directly. Why the Harvia Linear 22 GreenFlame ES stands out
ES front tank - hot water heated with sauna, no extra equipment
The 20-litre front water tank heats passively while the stove heats the sauna. By the time the sauna is at bathing temperature, the tank holds a full supply of hot water ready to use. The tap points downward from the front face of the stove - place a bucket or container beneath the tap and open it. No separate water heater to install, no connections to make, no additional fuel consumed. Harvia notes that the GreenFlame versions heat bathwater at the same time as the sauna with 20% lower emissions - the ES carries the same benefit with the front-positioned tank that does not add any width to the stove body.
Front tank position - narrower width than LS and RS
The ES tank extends forward from the stove body rather than sideways. Width remains 17.72" - the same as the standard Linear 22 GreenFlame. Depth increases to 25.98" (from 20.08" on the tankless version) to accommodate the front tank. For sauna rooms where the stove is placed against a back wall and the side clearances on both left and right are important for bench or bench leg placement, the ES front extension is less intrusive than the lateral extension of the LS or RS side-tank configurations. The trade-off is that the front clearance of 19.69" now also accommodates the tank depth in the room layout planning.
GreenFlame - 20% lower particles, 70% lower CO
The GreenFlame fire chamber is a completely redesigned combustion system built for clean burning. Harvia engineered the airflow pattern and heat retention within the fire chamber to produce complete combustion of wood gases and particles. The results are measured against a conventional Harvia stove of the same 15.7kW output: 20% lower particulate output and 70% lower carbon monoxide. Less soot on the glass door means the fire view stays clear throughout the session. Less creosote in the flue means lower maintenance frequency. A more stable, predictable burn means more consistent heat and steam quality throughout the sauna session.
90% larger glass door - fire at the centre of the sauna
The glass door on the Linear 22 GreenFlame ES is 90% larger than the standard Linear design. The fire is visible from the benches as a warm, moving, ambient light source that defines the character of a wood-fired sauna session in a way that no electric heater can replicate. The clean-burning GreenFlame fire also keeps soot off the glass, maintaining that clear view throughout the session rather than gradually obscuring the fire as combustion byproducts accumulate. The matte black body and modern Linear design frame the large glass in a way Harvia describes as creating a modern look in the sauna.
Replaceable flame guide panels and 10mm fire chamber cover
The flame guide panels at the sides and back of the fire chamber - the components most exposed to combustion heat - are individually replaceable. When a panel reaches the end of its service life, it can be swapped out without replacing the stove body. The 10mm fire chamber cover provides structural durability to the fire chamber itself. Together these features extend the operational lifespan of the stove significantly compared to designs where fire chamber components cannot be serviced. 2-year limited warranty (consumer use)
The Harvia Linear 22 GreenFlame ES is covered by Harvia's 2-year limited warranty from the date of purchase for consumer use. The warranty covers defects in manufacturing and materials under normal use conditions. The warranty does not cover damage caused by improper installation, use of incorrect stone type or size (non-AC3020, or stones outside the 10-15 cm specified diameter range), operating without the required stone load, failure to follow the installation and operating guidelines in the manual, damage from inadequate chimney maintenance, soot fires, or damage resulting from operating the water tank without adequate water levels. A licensed or certified chimney professional is recommended for all flue installation and regular chimney sweep maintenance.
