The Harvia HPCU3LUL and HPCU4LUL are safety railings with built-in LED lighting for the Harvia Cilindro Half electric sauna heaters. They increase bathing safety around the heater, and they add a decorative touch to the sauna. Each railing is made of four heat-treated birch wood arches that are connected to each other and to the heater with stainless steel mounts. A warm-white LED strip faces down onto the stones, and the soft light reflects indirectly off the heater, which makes the stone mass stand out. The HPCU3LUL is for the Cilindro Half 6 kW and 8 kW heaters. The HPCU4LUL is for the Cilindro Half 11 kW heater, which Harvia lists as the 10.5 kW PC110E. Both railings are 20.5 in (520 mm) across and 3.15 in (80 mm) high, and they weigh about 5.1 lbs. The heater, stones, and controller are sold separately. Includes installation instructions.
A guard rail that lights the stones
The Cilindro has an open stone pillar, so a rail around it helps keep bathers from touching the hot heater by accident. These railings add LEDs, so the light bounces softly off the heater and shows off the stones without shining in your eyes. The LEDs are warm white, 3000-3200 K, which suits the look of a wood-lined sauna. The railing is an addition to the heater's own safety rules, not a replacement for them, so keep to the clearances in the heater's manual.
Choose the railing that matches your heater
Pick the HPCU3LUL for the Cilindro Half 6 kW and 8 kW heaters (Harvia's instructions also list the 9 kW PC90 models), and the HPCU4LUL for the Cilindro Half 11 kW (10.5 kW PC110E). The two railings differ in the size of the opening for the heater: 12.6 in (320 mm) for the HPCU3LUL and 14.2 in (360 mm) for the HPCU4LUL. They are not interchangeable. Harvia also makes versions without lighting, the HPC3 and the HPC4. Please check with us if you are not sure which one suits your heater.
Installation and wiring
The railing fixes to the top of the heater with the supplied brackets, bolts, nuts and screws. Harvia's instructions cover a free-standing heater and a heater set into a bench with an embedding flange. The LED driver takes 100-240 V AC single-phase input and outputs 12 V DC. Mount it in the sauna no higher than 500 mm (20 in) above the floor. Per Harvia's instructions, only a licensed electrician may connect the driver's supply. Read the installation instructions before you start. Installation of the heater itself must follow its own manual and local code.
