The HUUM HIVE Mini 9 is a 9kW floor-standing electric sauna heater for rooms from 318 to 530 cubic feet, in the compact beehive form of the HIVE Mini series. This listing is the heater only. A UKU control unit and sauna stones are required for operation and sold separately. No UKU Extension Box is required at 9kW. The HIVE Mini 9 is the mid-range model in the HIVE Mini series - a step up from the HIVE Mini 6 (177-318 cu ft, 30A) for rooms from 318 to 530 cubic feet on a single 50A / 8 AWG circuit. The same compact beehive cage, 330-lb stone capacity, and open hexagonal form as the HIVE Mini 6, now for the larger room range. HIVE Mini 9 - 9kW beehive for 318-530 cu ft, no Extension Box

The HIVE Mini series covers three output levels without requiring a UKU Extension Box at 6kW and 9kW - only the HIVE Mini 10.6 adds the Extension Box requirement. The HIVE Mini 9 is the largest HIVE Mini that operates directly from the UKU control without additional hardware. At 9kW for rooms from 318 to 530 cubic feet on a single 50A / 8 AWG circuit, it covers the mid-size dedicated home sauna room range - two-bench cabin saunas, purpose-built residential rooms, and smaller commercial installations - in the compact beehive form. For rooms above 530 cu ft that need the beehive aesthetic, the HIVE Mini 10.6 covers 353-706 cu ft with the Extension Box, or the full-size HIVE 12 covers 424-636 cu ft with a dual-circuit configuration.

330 lbs of stone - same capacity as HIVE Mini 6 and 10.6

All three HIVE Mini models carry the same 330 lbs of 2"-4" (5-10 cm) rounded olivine diabase stones. At 9kW driving 330 lbs of stone mass, the HIVE Mini 9 provides more output per stone pound than the HIVE Mini 6 - faster heat-up in the 318-530 cu ft room range while maintaining the same large stone thermal reserve. Stones are sold separately and must be purchased alongside the UKU control for a complete installation. The Stone Requirements document below specifies the correct type and quantity.

50A / 8 AWG - heavier than HIVE Mini 6, same as HIVE Mini 10.6

The HIVE Mini 9 requires a single 50A / 8 AWG circuit - heavier than the HIVE Mini 6's 30A / 10 AWG but the same wire gauge as the HIVE Mini 10.6. The key difference between the HIVE Mini 9 and 10.6 is not the circuit specification but the Extension Box: the HIVE Mini 9 does not require one, the HIVE Mini 10.6 does. For rooms from 353-530 cu ft in the overlap zone between the two models, the HIVE Mini 9 is adequate for standard rooms and avoids the Extension Box; the HIVE Mini 10.6 provides more output headroom for cold surfaces or high-frequency use and adds the Extension Box. Confirm a 50A panel slot is available before ordering. A licensed electrician is required.

The HIVE Mini 9 carries the same 330-lb stone capacity as the HIVE Mini 6 and 10.6. At 9kW driving 330 lbs, the heat-up time for a 318-530 cu ft room is faster than at 6kW and the stone mass provides sustained temperature and consistent steam throughout the session. For mid-size home saunas with regular back-to-back use, the 330-lb stone load at 9kW delivers the recovery performance that smaller stone loads cannot match.

50A / 8 AWG - same wire as HIVE Mini 10.6

The HIVE Mini 9 and HIVE Mini 10.6 share the same 50A / 8 AWG wire specification. For rooms in the 353-530 cu ft overlap zone between the two models, the electrical planning is identical - the choice between them is whether the Extension Box is acceptable and whether the extra output headroom of the 10.6 is needed. If the 50A panel slot is available and 8 AWG wire is planned, either model can be selected based on room requirements.

HIVE Mini vs DROP 9 vs STEEL 9 at 318-530 cu ft

For rooms from 318 to 530 cu ft, three HUUM floor-standing heaters cover the range on a 50A / 8 AWG circuit: DROP 9 (wall-mounted, 122 lbs stones), STEEL 9 (slim stainless tower, 330 lbs stones), and HIVE Mini 9 (beehive cage, 330 lbs stones). The STEEL 9 and HIVE Mini 9 carry the same stone mass; the choice between them is form - slim rectangular tower vs open beehive cage.

UKU WiFi - remote preheat for a mid-size sauna

A 318-530 cu ft sauna room at 9kW takes 30-50 minutes to reach bathing temperature. The UKU WiFi option (sold separately) adds HUUM app remote preheat and scheduling on iOS and Android - start the sauna from work or from anywhere before arriving. No Extension Box is required for the HIVE Mini 9 WiFi upgrade. The UKU Local Black provides on-site digital control without app connectivity.

HIVE Mini 9STU Package - complete bundled option

Warranty

5-year limited warranty (elements excluded)

The HUUM HIVE Mini 9 is covered by HUUM's 5-year limited warranty from the date of purchase. The warranty covers defects in manufacturing and materials under normal use conditions. Heating elements are excluded from the 5-year coverage and carry their own separate warranty period. The warranty does not cover damage caused by improper installation, use of incorrect or non-approved stones, operating without the required stone load, or failure to follow HUUM's installation and operating guidelines. A licensed electrician is required. Do not connect to a GFI/GFCI breaker. Proof of purchase from an authorized HUUM dealer is required. We are an authorized HUUM dealer.

We have a 30-day return policy, which means you have 30 days after receiving your item to request a return.
To be eligible for a return, your item must be in the same condition that you received it, unworn or unused, with tags, and in its original packaging. You’ll also need the receipt or proof of purchase. Restock fees will be deducted in amounts ranging from 15% to 25% of the value of the item being returned. The minimum restock fee on lower-value orders will be $15.
