The HUUM HIVE Mini 6 is the smallest model in the HIVE Mini range - but it carries more sauna stones than most full-size heaters from other manufacturers. At 18.11 inches in diameter and 29.53 inches tall, it is a round, open-frame, floor-standing heater that holds 330 lbs of stones in an arching stainless steel cage inspired by the structure of a wild beehive. Where the CLIFF heaters are slim towers designed for corners and tight spaces, the HIVE Mini is a centerpiece - a heater you arrange the sauna room around rather than fit alongside everything else. The open stone cage is visible from every angle in the room, the stones surround every face of the heating elements with direct contact, and the round form creates even heat distribution outward in all directions simultaneously.
330 lbs of stones - the largest stone capacity in the HUUM Mini range
The HIVE Mini 6 holds 330 lbs (150 kg) of sauna stones when loaded without the air tunnel, and 265 lbs (120 kg) when the air tunnel is installed. This is the largest stone capacity of any heater in the HUUM mini range, and it is the primary reason the HIVE Mini produces the steam quality that sauna enthusiasts compare to traditional wood-fired heating. Large stone mass stores more thermal energy, releases heat more slowly and evenly, and absorbs more water per ladle without producing sharp steam bursts. Ten boxes of 2-4" rounded olivine-diabase stones (33 lbs per box, 330 lbs total) are required for proper operation. Stones are sold separately. HUUM strongly recommends using rounded stones to complement the design and produce milder steam - and specifically olivine-diabase for its durability and high heat capacity.
Round form, open cage, beehive-inspired - a heater that is meant to be seen
The HIVE Mini takes its form from the structure of a wild beehive: a circular base, arching stainless steel ribs that curve inward and upward, and an open stone cage that is visible from every angle in the sauna. There is no enclosure, no back panel, no side that faces the wall. The stones surround the heating elements on all sides, and the heater produces heat outward in every direction simultaneously. In most sauna rooms, a CLIFF or STEEL heater is positioned against a wall or in a corner where part of it is hidden. The HIVE Mini is typically positioned in the centre of a wall or as a freestanding focal point - a piece of functional sculpture that becomes the defining visual element of the sauna interior. As of 2025, the air tunnel is included as a standard component with all new HIVE Mini models, boosting heating efficiency further.
Bench embedding - an installation option unique to the HIVE range
The HIVE Mini 6 can be partially embedded into the sauna bench or sauna floor - an installation option not available on the CLIFF heaters. When embedded, at least 13.78 inches (350 mm) of the heater must protrude above the bench surface. The optional embedding flange covers the cut edges of the bench opening for a clean finished look. This embedded installation positions the heater stone mass at bench level, shortens the radiant heat path to bathers, and allows the heater to be placed directly within the bench structure without consuming any wall or floor space. It requires precise carpentry work and should be planned during the sauna room construction phase rather than added to an existing room.
Electrical: 240V/1-phase, 30A breaker, 10 AWG - moderate installation requirements
The HIVE Mini 6 runs on 240V/1-phase with a 30A breaker and 10 AWG wire - a moderate electrical specification that is heavier than the CLIFF Mini 4 (20A) but lighter than the CLIFF 9 (50A). Most existing residential panels can accommodate a 30A 240V circuit without major modification. A licensed electrician is required for all connections. The wall safety distance for the HIVE Mini 6 is 2.37 inches (60 mm) - comparable to the CLIFF Mini in compactness. The UKU control unit is required for operation and sold separately in Local, Wi-Fi, or Glass configurations.
