The HIVE design - open beehive cage, 528 lbs of stone

The HUUM HIVE is a floor-standing electric sauna heater with an open hexagonal cage structure - the beehive form that gives the series its name. The cage is 18.11" (460 mm) in diameter and contains a central heating element column surrounded by 528 lbs of 2"-4" (5-10 cm) rounded olivine diabase stones. The open cage structure allows the full stone mass to be visible from all angles and lets heat and steam radiate from the stone surface throughout the full circumference of the heater. The HIVE's large stone capacity - 528 lbs at 12kW - provides substantial thermal mass that sustains heat and produces soft, long-lasting steam through extended sessions and back-to-back use. The visual presence of the HIVE in the sauna room is significant: at 18.11" diameter, it is designed to be a focal element of the space rather than a background appliance.

Dual 30A circuit - unique HIVE 12 electrical configuration

The HIVE 12 uses a dual-circuit electrical configuration - two separate 30A / 10 AWG circuits rather than a single heavier circuit. This is different from the HIVE 15 (which uses dual 50A / 8 AWG circuits) and different from the DROP, CLIFF, and STEEL series which all use single circuits. The dual 30A / 10 AWG specification means two separate 30A breakers and two separate 10 AWG wire runs are required for the HIVE 12 installation. Dual 30A circuits - plan before ordering

The HIVE 12's dual 30A / 10 AWG configuration requires two separate breaker slots and two separate wire runs from the panel to the heater location. This is different from every other HUUM heater's single-circuit configuration. Confirm the panel has two available 30A slots and plan both wire runs before ordering. The HIVE 15 uses dual 50A / 8 AWG - heavier still.

528 lbs of stone - maximum thermal mass

At 528 lbs, the HIVE carries more stone mass than any other HUUM heater model. The large stone load provides sustained heat retention, slow and soft steam release, and excellent temperature recovery between back-to-back sessions. For large sauna rooms with multiple bathers or facilities with continuous high-frequency use, the 528-lb stone mass is the key thermal advantage of the HIVE series.

Extension Box required - confirm before ordering

The UKU Extension Box is required for the HIVE 12 and is not included in this standalone listing. It is included in the HIVE 12STU Package. When ordering the standalone heater, add the Extension Box to the order alongside the UKU control and stones. The Extension Box manages the connection between the HIVE's dual-circuit load and the UKU control panel and is not optional.

HIVE 12 (dual 30A) vs HIVE 15 (dual 50A) - room size and circuit capacity

Both the HIVE 12 and HIVE 15 are full-size HUUM HIVE floor-standing heaters with the same 18.11" beehive cage form and 528-lb stone capacity. HIVE 12: 12kW, 424-636 cu ft, dual 30A / 10 AWG - two 30A slots required. HIVE 15: 15kW, 530-813 cu ft, dual 50A / 8 AWG - two 50A slots and heavier wire required. The HUUM HIVE 12 is covered by HUUM's 5-year limited warranty from the date of purchase. The warranty covers defects in manufacturing and materials under normal use conditions. Heating elements are excluded from the 5-year coverage and carry their own separate warranty period. The warranty does not cover damage caused by improper installation, operating without the required UKU Extension Box, use of incorrect or non-approved stones, operating without the required stone load, or failure to follow HUUM's installation and operating guidelines. A licensed electrician is required. Do not connect to GFI/GFCI breakers. Two separate 30A circuits required. Proof of purchase from an authorized HUUM dealer is required. We have a 30-day return policy, which means you have 30 days after receiving your item to request a return.
To be eligible for a return, your item must be in the same condition that you received it, unworn or unused, with tags, and in its original packaging. You’ll also need the receipt or proof of purchase. Restock fees will be deducted in amounts ranging from 15% to 25% of the value of the item being returned.
