It is the most visually distinctive heater in the Harvia range: a tall, narrow stainless steel cylinder 39.8 inches high and 14.2 inches wide, with a grate-like outer shell that leaves the stone mass fully visible from all sides as the defining visual element. The Cilindro is not a wall heater - it stands on the floor and can be positioned against a sidewall, in a corner, or wherever the room layout and aesthetic call for it. The elements run down the center of the heater column through the stone mass, and the stone capacity is 200 lbs - more than four times the stone load of a standard KIP heater of comparable output.
Two types of steam from a single heater - the grate-shell advantage
The defining functional feature of the Cilindro is what its open grate shell enables in terms of steam control. When water is poured onto the exposed stones on the side of the heater, the large stone surface area distributes the steam broadly and gradually - soft, enveloping loyly that fills the room slowly and gently. When water is poured directly onto the top of the stone column, the concentrated mass at the top of the pillar produces a sharp, intense burst of steam that rises quickly to the ceiling and descends through the room. This is not a small distinction in practice. In most sauna heaters, the steam character is fixed by the heater design. In the Cilindro, the bather controls it in real time by choosing where to pour the water - and both experiences are available in the same session. The 200-lb stone mass provides the thermal capacity to sustain either approach for the full session duration without the stones cooling between ladles.
Built-in controls - no external control unit needed
The PC80 has built-in digital time and temperature controls at the side of the heater body. There is no external control unit required and none compatible. The built-in controls manage temperature setting, a 60-minute operating timer, and a delay start of up to 8 hours in advance. This is the key difference from the PC80E (external control model): the PC80 is self-contained - one heater, one electrical connection, all controls on the unit itself. The controls are positioned at the side of the pillar at an accessible height. The consequences of this are felt in every session: the larger the stone mass, the more thermal energy it stores, the longer and more consistently it releases heat, and the more water it absorbs per ladle without dropping temperature. Sessions in a sauna heated by 200 lbs of stones and sessions in a sauna heated by 44 lbs of stones are qualitatively different experiences - the Cilindro produces the sustained, soft heat envelope that large stone mass enables and that compact wall heaters cannot replicate at any output level. PC80 vs PC80E - which is right?
Cilindro PC80 vs PC80E - the only difference is the control system
Both models are 8kW pillar heaters with the same stainless grate shell, 200-lb stone capacity, pillar design, and room coverage (141-431 cu ft). The PC80 (this product) has built-in dial controls - no external unit, no WiFi, no app. Operation is direct and self-contained. The PC80E requires an external Xenio control unit (sold separately) - adding digital precision, timer scheduling, and WiFi remote preheat via the MyHarvia app when a WiFi control is chosen. For buyers who want the Cilindro design and are comfortable with manual dial control, the PC80 is the simpler and more economical choice. For buyers who want remote preheat and app control on the Cilindro, the PC80E with a Xenio WiFi control is the appropriate alternative.
A standard 2-pole 40A breaker and 8 AWG wire are required for the PC80. Do not connect to a GFI or GFCI breaker. Only Harvia AC3000 stones (5-10 cm) should be used - 5 boxes required, sold separately. Stones are required before first use and must be loaded correctly to prevent element damage.

Warranty
2-year consumer warranty / 1-year commercial warranty
The Harvia Cilindro PC80 is covered by a 2-year limited warranty for consumer (residential) use and a 1-year limited warranty for commercial use from the date of purchase. The warranty covers the heater and all included parts including heating elements, controls, and contactors against defects in manufacturing and materials. Heating elements are covered on first use only and are thereafter considered consumable parts. The warranty is void if: the heater is connected to a GFI/GFCI breaker (standard 2-pole required), incorrect or insufficient stones are used (must be Harvia AC3000, 5-10 cm, 5 boxes required), essential oils are poured directly on stones or elements, or the heater is improperly installed.
